10/13

We know, you’ve heard it over and over again. “Drink more water.” “You’re probably dehydrated.” “Iced coffee doesn’t count as your water intake for the day!”

And guess what? They’re all CORRECT. (As much as you don’t want to hear it.)

The average American is usually dehydrated. We don’t drink nearly enough water daily to keep our bodies running smoothly. We obviously know our kidneys need water to remain functioning properly. But did you know that your spine needs water just as badly?

Those spongey little doodads between your vertebrae are called discs. They are the cushion that prevents your vertebrae from rubbing together, and they facilitate flexibility.

If you’re dehydrated, those discs become dehydrated as well! That means you can start to experience back pain. GASP! Who knew?!

Thankfully, this is easily remedied. Just follow this easy tip: Take your body weight, divide it by 1/3, and convert those numbers into ounces! For example: someone weighing 248lbs would want to drink around 82 ounces.

It seems like a lot, but you’ll quickly adapt to it. AND you’ll feel better! Every single part of your body will thank you.
